Is Myxomatosis back in ireland?

I was walking around a field today trying to figure out ware all the rabbits were gone because the field used to be wildly alive with them. I saw a rabbit coming out of a burrow and i got a bit startled because his eyes were closed and weeping. When i walked towards him he did not get startled or anything. but when i tried to pick him up, he ran. i know that rabbits can be born blind but its unusual for them to have weeping eyes. I live in north county Kerry. Can someone please tell me if the disease is back?
